On the morning of October 17, At the entrance to the Light of Internet Expo, a small “online celebrity” police robot was greeting everyone warmly, “Welcome to Wuzhen, I am now patrolling...”

With a small body, a “cute” appearance, 4 flexible driving wheels, and a pair of sharp “big eyes” on the head, this is the 5G patrol robot provided by the public security bureau of Jiaxing for the Wuzhen Summit with the aid of internet technology.

“Don’t look down upon the small robot. It has strong functions.” According to Qiu Weijie, a people’s policeman on duty, this is a 5G patrol robot equipped with 6-route HD video surveillance. Thanks to the 5G new technology of a high bandwidth and a low delay, the 4K HD images it has captured can be sent to the command center at the back in a second, with which the police can keep a close watch on the conditions at the site through the real-time HD images. Through the back-end computation of AI algorithm, it can spot any hidden hazard that’s easy to be neglected by human’s eyes in time.

Compared with the conventional model of human patrol, another advantage of the robot is that it can perform normalized patrol tasks for 24 hours. The newly built venue for the Light of Internet Expo in the Wuzhen Summit this year covers 20,000 ㎡. The daily patrol distance of 5G robot can reach 80 km or more, which can automatically examine and verify more than 200 persons. So one robot can finish the daily workload done by 10 patrol policemen.

Other than guaranteeing the security, the handling of over 20 issues of three kinds of police organs, namely security, vehicle administration, exit and entry has been moved to the “smart police self-service station” which has just been put into use at the town. The reform of “making one trip at most” of Zhejiang has been implemented at Wuzhen, which will bring extremely great convenience to the people and guests attending the event.
