The main channel project of Zhoushan Port in Ningbo, with a total length of 36.78 kilometers, is invested and constructed by Zhejiang Communications Investment Group CO.,LTD., and designed according to the standard of two-way four-lane expressway. It is an important part of Shanghai-Zhoushan-Ningbo Cross-Sea Passage.

 

The reporter came to the main navigation span bridge in Zhoushan-Daishan Bridge in the morning.  The reporter saw three main towers of the bridge erect on the sea. According to the staff, each main tower is 180 meters high, and the unique diamond-shape towers has become representative buildings in Zhoushan.

“Its main span length has been the highest in the world of offshore bridges, and it can be called the largest three-tower offshore cable-stayed bridge with the most reasonable design," said Wu Boming, executive deputy commander of the main channel project.

 

Realizing the closure of the main bridge ahead of schedule within 4 months, the bridge will become the longest expressway connecting islands in the world in the future

 

The project of main navigation span bridge in Zhoushan-Daishan Bridge was started in September 2017. Affected by the COVID-19, some personnel, machinery and materials could not arrive at the site on time, and the construction could not be carried out as planned.

Facing difficulties and challenges, during the Spring Festival, every bridge builder held fast to his post. The construction platform was fully sealed and disinfected, and sufficient epidemic prevention materials were prepared, which made Zhoushan-Daishan Bridge one of the first batch of projects to resume work in Zhejiang.

 

After completion, the main channel project of Zhoushan Port will be connected with Ningbo-Zhoushan Expressway, bringing the total construction mileage of Zhoushan Island Connecting Project to 83 kilometers, spanning 8 islands. This super-transportation project will connect to the south to Shanghai in the long term, becoming the longest expressway connecting islands and the largest cross-sea bridge group in the world, making Shanghai, Ningbo and Zhoushan form the shortest land transportation, which is of great significance for promoting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
