Located at the southeastern side of Xunshan Mountain and 200 meters east of the Liangzhu Cultural Museum, the ruins cover about 150 meters from east to west, nearly 400 meters from south to north, an area of about 60,000 ㎡. The western and southern parts of the ruins, used to be farmlands, are now covered by architectures.

Remnant of mound still exists in the northeast of the ruins, with a relative height of 1-3 meters. From 1988 to 2000, Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Archaeology conducted six excavations at the ruins.
