Unlike other well-known towns in Southern China, Yuehe Old Street is a tranquil and elegant place without bustling and boisterous crowds. Tourists can experience what it is like to live in China a hundred years ago by casually strolling down the street. The crisscrossing alleys are also similar to those paved during the Republic of China period, such as Zhongji Road and Beijing Road.

Speaking of Jiaxing food, zongzi is probably most renowned, yet there are other delicious foods worth checking out. Besides the Wufangzhai mansion, there is also the Jiangnan Grandmother Bridge, Nanhu Lake Crab, Wenhu Stewed Duck in Soy Sauce. These authentic local snacks have inherited the traditional Jiaxing flavors and charms. In addition, Gujuzhai, located on No. 146, Zhongji Road, Yuehe Block, is a snack shop that best exemplifies local characteristics.

The two-story Gujuzhai serves all kinds of pastries encompassing all types sold in the local market. The most popular pastries are the orange cake, snow dumplings, dried meat floss muffin, green bean cake, moon cakes, sesame cake, and crunchy candy. More than a dozen employees work together every day from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., but the business is still barely able to fulfill the demand, which in a way proves its status in the area as a premium food establishment.
