Zhejiang Provincial government has just approved the establishment of the Wucheng Nanshan Provincial Nature Reserve. So far, the number of natural reserves in Zhejiang Province has increased to 27.
Wucheng Nanshan Provincial Nature Reserve is located in the south of Wucheng District of Jinhua City, bordering Wuyi city and Suichang city. With a total area of 9532.60 hectares, it is currently the largest provincial nature reserve in Zhejiang. Among it, the core protection area is 5104.48 hectares, and the general control area is 4442.12 hectares.
Located in the transition zone of biota, this area is one of the most abundant biodiversity areas in central Zhejiang and inhabits many rare and endangered animals and plants. It is the northernmost habitat of the yellow-bellied pheasant, white-necked pheasant, and black deer living together. And it is also the only habitat of Monimopetalum Chinense Rehd in Zhejiang, which means that the Wucheng Nanshan Provincial Nature Reserve has high protection and research value.
The establishment of this nature reserve is of great significance to the protection of biodiversity, to optimize and perfect the distribution pattern of nature reserves, and to build an ecological barrier in Zhejiang Province. At the same time, the establishment of the protection zone is conducive to promoting regional cooperative protection.
