Taizhou to host intl tea culture expo

The 2019 China International Tea Culture Expo will be held at the Taizhou International Convention and Exhibition Center from Dec 20 to 23, according to local media reports.

  

More than 300 tea enterprises and 500 professional buyers from home and abroad have confirmed their participation, according to organizers.

  

The inaugural event is jointly sponsored by the China International Tea Culture Institute and China Tea Science Society.

  

The expo will feature more than 400 booths with a combined area of 10,000 square meters, showcasing a wide array of products such as tea, tea ware and handicrafts.

  

In addition to the exhibition, a series of tea-related events such as forums and operas will also be held.

  

Taizhou has a long history of planting tea. Official data show that the tea planting area in the city is more than 200,000 mu (13,333.3 hectares) and has an annual output of over 5,500 tons of tea leaves, worth over 600 million yuan ($89.55 million) in total.

  

The city is home to a total of 59 tea brands, including several nationally famous brands such as Yangyan Gouqing from Linhai, Yunwu tea from Tiantai, and Lvhao from Sanmen.
