According to the Economy and Information Technology Department of Zhejiang, in the 2020 Advanced Manufacturing Cluster Competition organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, a total of 20 clusters across the country were selected as winning bidders, in which Zhejiang took 5 seats, ranking the first in the country.

As early as 2003, Zhejiang has put forward the policy of "accelerating the construction of advanced manufacturing bases".

Nowadays, a number of competitive and representative advanced manufacturing clusters have formed in Zhejiang.

In March this year, Zhejiang once again held a conference on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry in the whole province. Zhejiang has set out the goal of a "global advanced manufacturing base" and it is going to actively build advanced manufacturing clusters with global competitiveness.

At present, more than 80 industrial clusters with an annual output value exceeding 10 billion yuan and 12 industrial clusters with an annual output value exceeding 100 billion yuan have formed in Zhejiang, among which more than 70 manufacturing clusters have a market share exceeding 30% in China.
