One-month pan-provincial investigation on food safety achieved fruitful results

Since June 16, market supervision departments of Zhejiang Province at all levels have been carrying out a one-month thorough investigation on food safety in key areas across the province. Markets selling edible agricultural products, large and medium-sized supermarkets, catering units providing raw aquatic products, and foodstuff refrigerated storages are listed as key investigation sites, and the control of fresh and frozen livestock, poultry meat and aquatic products imported or from key COVID-19 prevention and control areas in these sites are strengthened.

During this pan-provincial sanitation investigation, the methods of traceability tracing, supervisory sampling inspection, rolling inspection, and public participation were adopted, and the on-site inspection such as account records and purchase inspection is carried out around key areas, key links and key varieties, so as to strengthen the traceability management of food business.

 

Serious food safety hidden dangers discovered during the period shall be investigated and dealt with as required timely; persons suspected of violating the law shall be dealt with in accordance with the "Food Safety Law" and other relevant laws and regulations; persons suspected of committing crimes shall be promptly transferred to the public security organ for handling according to law.

 

As of June 17, 13,001 law enforcement personnel have been dispatched by market supervision departments of Zhejiang Province, 11,891 key subjects have been inspected, 849 problems have been found, 547 "warning" administrative penalties have been ordered for rectification, and 32 cases have been filed for investigation and punishment.
