The flood periods of Qiantang River are the 1st to the 6th and the 15th to the 20th of each lunar month. 

Today is April 18th according to the lunar calendar. The tide is especially spectacular due to the influence of the weather during the flood period.

At about 2: 00 p.m. in Guanchao Shengdi Park, Yanguan, there had been heaps of tourists waiting for the tide to come. At 2: 21, standing on the dyke and looking to the east, people saw a white line appearing in the distance, and people's cheers and shouts rang immediately. As the tide drew nearer, the roar of the tide, like that of thousands of running horses, grew louder and louder.

"It's like a wall coming sideways. It's so loud. I'm so excited. I took all the videos," a Shanghai tourist excitedly said.

Reporters learned from Yanguan Hydrological Station that due to the influence of wind force, the tide today reached 1.5 meters high and the viewing level reached the highest level--level 5.
