On May 21, Zhejiang Tea Industry College, the first tea college in China, was established. At the opening ceremony, 80 academicians, experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs in the tea and related fields from all over the province attended and served as industry and entrepreneurship mentors.
Zhejiang Tea Industry College is sponsored by the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs together with the head of the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative. Focusing on cultivating the leading talents of tea enterprises and tea industry, it commits to making Zhejiang Tea Industry College the "'West Point' Military Academy" of the tea industry.
To promote the transformation and development of tea enterprises, the college has set up various creative courses. "Core courses consist of five subjects like tea production and processing, brand building and industrial economics and tea culture." introduced by Zhou Wengen, Dean of Zhejiang Tea Industry College. The college broke the boundaries of the industry, inviting academicians, famous experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs to be the mentors. Now, there are 34 professors, including 4 academicians, 3 heads of National Scientific Research Institutes, and 2 principals.
