On the afternoon of January 8, the digital economy research platform (hereinafter referred to as the "platform") co-founded by the Zhejiang Provincial Policy Research Office and Alibaba Group was formally established in Hangzhou. The platform aims to strengthen the theoretical and practical research on the frontier direction and key areas of the digital economy, explore the development laws and future trends of the digital economy, and also to promote Zhejiang to be the national demonstrative province of the digital economy.

The platform is an open virtual research institution, and the main structure is in the form of "1 + 1 + N". The two "1" refer to the Zhejiang Provincial Policy Research Office and Alibaba Group, which are the top-level architecture of the platform. "N" means a number of substantive research centers jointly established by the platform and related universities and research institutes. At the ceremony, the platform cooperated with the Zhejiang Institute of Industry and Information Technology to jointly establish the Zhejiang Industrial Economic Center. It also cooperated with the Research Center for Information Technology and Economic Social System of Zhejiang University to jointly establish the Zhejiang Digital Development and Governance Research Center.

The platform will mainly undertake three major tasks: analysis of the economic situation, research on the frontier direction of the digital economy, and innovation of basic theories of the digital economy. The platform will hold a national forum themed with the digital economy once a year. With the goal of creating an international think tank for digital economy research with global influence and government-enterprise-research cooperation, the platform is expected to create a new model of government-enterprise-research cooperation and explore a new way of serving high-quality development.
