On the afternoon of November 5, the office of the government of Huangyan District, Taizhou held the Conference on Green Development of Agriculture of Zhejiang Province and a news conference for the preparatory work of 2019 Zhejiang Huangyan Citrus Tourism Festival to introduce the preparation status of the tourism festival.

In order to better promote the tourism image of "the source of Chinese citrus, the beautiful landscapes of Huangyan", the Conference on Green Development of Agriculture of Zhejiang Province & 2019 Huangyan Citrus Tourism Festival will be held in Huangyan from November 9 to December 9 with a theme of "the Citrus Source of China and Green Development". The event will be hosted by the Department of Agriculture of Zhejiang Province and the People's Government of Taizhou City and organized by the Party Committee of Huangyan District and the People's Government of Huangyan District.

It’s reported that the Citrus Tourism Festival will hold a plenty of activities. The opening ceremony of 2019 Huangyan Citrus Tourism Festival will be held at the Citrus Museum Square of the Citrus Expo Park on the afternoon of November 9. Other activities include the Source of Chinese Citrus Tourism Town Activity Month, the Source of Chinese Citrus Tribute Citrus Garden Cultural Festival, the Source of Chinese Citrus Tourism series activities, Taizhou folk cuisine activities, the Development Forum on the Source of Chinese Citrus, exhibition and sales of agricultural products and rural snacks. The Citrus Tourism Festival will last one month in a festive atmosphere continuously.

The cultivation history of Huangyan tangerine is more than 1,700 years, which was listed among the articles of tribute in the Tang dynasty and was praised by Emperor Gaozong of the Southern Song dynasty as the "No. 1 fruit of the world". With rich varieties, there are more than 500 varieties of Huangyan tangerine. At present, the main varieties of Huangyan tangerine cultivated local early mature, and early-maturing Wenzhou tangerine. And other varieties of tangerine suitable to be cultivated in Huangyan are being introduced and developed, such as Red Beauty, Cocktail Grapefruit, Dafen and Youliang. And the varieties that are under an adaptive trial include Ganping, Xingjin 58 (See Tomorrow), Xingjin 54 (Sunny Girl) and Yuanxiaochun (Green Beauty). In 2018, the growing area of tangerines in Huangyan District reached 63,000 mu (1 mu=666.7 ㎡), with an annual yield of about 58,000 tons and an annual output value of RMB 288 million.
