The closing ceremony of the 7th Military World Games was held on the evening of October 27 at Wuhan Sports Center, and the 10-day Military World Games was successfully concluded. With over 100 gold medals and a total of 200 medals, the excellent performance makes the Chinese team the only team with "over one hundred gold medals" in the Military World Games.
There are many athletes from Zhejiang Province who were frequently under the spotlight. Let’s take a look at the exciting moments, and cheer for these athletes!
[Swimming]
Wang Shun, born in Ningbo, serves in the navy. He had won three gold medals, one silver medal and one copper medal.
In the men’s 4x200 meters freestyle relay of the Military World Games held on October 19th, the Chinese team won the first prize with a record-breaking result, even though they swam 200 meters more than other teams.
In the game, Wang Shun was the first leg in the relay. As soon as the starting pistol was fired, Wang Shun, like other swimmers, jumped into the pool. The referee blew his whistle immediately. It turned out that one swimmer beat the gun and all other players followed the suit unconsciously. Wang Shun was so concentrated in the game that he had not realize what happened until he finished 200 meters. In the subsequent relay, Wang Shun, Liu Shaofeng, He Junyi, and Ji Xinjie won the first prize with a record-breaking result of 7 minutes and 13.35 seconds.
[Water lifesaving]
Water lifesaving was originally one of the items of the Military World Games. However, since 2003, it had not been included for three consecutive games. After 16 years, the game has once again “returned”.
The August 1stWater Lifesaving Team was formally established in July 2018 and is the only professional water lifesaving team in China. This team has won more than 300 gold medals at home and abroad. It is the first time they participated in the Military World Games since the team was established.
Wu Huimin, born in Ningbo, serves in the army. She has won a total of four gold medals.
Wu Huimin was born in 1999. In 2005, at the age of six, she was selected by the Ningbo swimming team and began professional swimming training. When she was ten years old, she was recommended to the provincial team, and later she was coached by Zhu Zhigen, who is also the coach of Olympic champion Sun Yang.
In the Women’s 200 Meters Super Lifesaving Game, Chinese swimmer Dai Xiaodie won the gold medal.
Dai Xiaodie, born in Jiaxing, serves in the army. She was born in September, 1998 in Pinghu, Jiaxing.
In 2004, she went to Pinghu Sports School to receive swimming training, under the coaching of Yang Fan. In March 2010, she went to the Zhejiang Provincial Team for training, and in October of the same year, she returned to Pinghu after the Provincial Sports Games. In 2012, she was selected to the August 1stPeople’s Liberation Army Water Lifesaving Team.
At the Military World Games held in Wuhan, Dai Xiaodie finally won the global championship and realized her dream!
