In order to improve the green ecological civilization and build a new type of urban communities suitable for living, business and sightseeing, recently four parties have signed a donation agreement, which include Zhejiang Jack Ma Public Welfare Foundation, Hangzhou Yuhang District Charity Federation, Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City Construction Co., Ltd., and Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City (Overseas High-level Talents Innovation Park)’s administration committee. Zhejiang Jack Ma Public Welfare Foundation donated 100 million yuan to Yuhang District Charity Federation for the ecological environment research and protection of Xixi Wetland.

As a Hangzhou citizen, Jack Ma remarked on the donation ceremony, “Today’s signing is only our first step. We will invite the world’s top-level ecological experts to join us to build Xixi Wetland into a park as excellent as New York Central Park.”

Xixi Wetland was listed among the world’s important wetlands on July 7, 2009, which is referred to as “three wests” of Hangzhou along with Xihu (West Lake) and Xiling (Xiling Society of Seal Arts) for its rich ecological resources, elegant natural landscapes and profound cultural deposits.

With the increase of the surrounding population and development of tourism industry, it has become an important topic how to improve the balance between the protection of Xixi Wetland’s ecological environment and the human’s life. Ths is the main direction of efforts for the aforesaid donation from Jack Ma Public Welfare Foundation as well as one of the goals Yuhang District is pursuing in its construction of a beautiful region.
