On October 8th, Xing Lida, Associate Professor of China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Professor Martin Lockley, President of Footprint Museum of University of Colorado (Martin Lockley), and other Chinese and American paleontologists announced in Beijing that they found in Lanxi City in the midwest of Zhejiang Province they found important large dinosaur footprints, which had long been interpreted as the ruin of "Eight Immortals Playing Chinese Chess" by people for a long time.
The discovery is important for studying the distribution and evolution of the mid-cretaceous dinosaur fauna in China and the impact of folklore on paleontology. The "ass prints" of eight immortals left on the rocks in the ruin of "Eight Immortals Playing Chinese Chess" at Eight Immortals Ridge, Qunsheng Village, Meijiang Town were confirmed by Xing Lida, expert of China University of Geosciences, as giant dinosaur footprints 100 million years ago.
On October 10th, Jin Xingsheng, doctor of Zhejiang Museum of Natural History, arrived at the scene. At "Eight Immortals Playing Chinese Chess", he agreed with Xing Lida's judgment of the ruin. Villagers told him that there is another ruin called "Eight Immortals Getting Drunk". He confirmed on site that many "small wine glasses of immortals" were the smallest grass-eating dinosaur footprints discovered in Zhejiang Province for the first time, which were very precious.
