Documentary on Zhejiang which takes an international view premiered in Beijing

The world premiere of the documentary The New Stories of Zhejiang supervised by the State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China and produced by China Report magazine was held in Beijing on October 9th. The film records the story of Lord Michael Bates, senator of UK, and his Wife Li Xuelin's one-month hiking trip from Hangzhou to Wenzhou in the form of a "diary". It uses rich and vivid walking images and humorous words to convey the image of China in a vibrant new era.

On August 19th, Michael Bates and his wife Li Xuelin set off from Hangzhou, walked for 501.62 kilometers and reached Wenzhou Science and Technology Museum. They donated all 1 million yuan raised by hiking to Zhejiang Foundation for Disabled Persons. The New Stories of Zhejiang helped them to record what they thought during hiking.

In the film, with curiosity and thinking about precise poverty alleviation, "the Belt the Road" initiative, "Concept of Two Mountains" and other Chinese issues, into ginger village, Michael Bates went to Xiajiang Village of Zhejiang, the departure station of China-Europe train of Yiwu, Pan’an Ancient Tea-making Houses, Yitou and Ping Village, Linjiang Town, Wenzhou and other places, so as to explore changed of Zhejiang and show a real and three-dimensional China from the unique perspective of foreigners.
