The 25th Shaoxing Yellow Wine Festival is scheduled to be held in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province from Nov 8 to 10 to promote the local yellow wine.

Yellow wine is made through the fermentation of rice or a variety of other grains, and is one of the world's three ancient alcoholic beverages, the other two being beer and conventional wine made using fermented grapes.

The festival, co-hosted by the China Alcoholic Drinks Association and the government of Shaoxing, will include an opening ceremony, an international yellow wine industries expo and a yellow wine industries summit forum.

Leading yellow wine manufacturers and dealers from home and abroad will attend the festival. An exhibition booth for wine distributors will be set up for the first time in the festival's history to promote yellow wine marketing in Shaoxing.

An exhibition area for overseas wines from countries such as Japan will also be set up for the first time to promote exchange between wine industries.

In addition, a yellow wine tasting competition will be held, and visitors will be invited to taste a variety of wines and local delicacies of Zhejiang during the festival.

"This year not only marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, but is also a year of opportunity for the yellow wine industry," said Qian Xiaohua, chair of the Yellow Wine Industries Association in Shaoxing.

"Shaoxing seeks to promote its wine industry and culture and make itself into a famous city of yellow wine in China and around the world," Qian added.
