Austrian, Polish authors win 2018, 2019 Nobel Prize for Literature

2018 and 2019 Nobel Prizes for Literature were announced at 19:00 on October 10th of Beijing time.


Among them, Peter Handek should not be strange to Chinese readers since he visited China for many times and was once interviewed.

Nine books of Chinese version collecting his works, such as the Goalie's Anxiety at the Penalty Kick, Sorrow Song with No Desire, Left-handed Woman, Slow Homecoming, Go to the Ninth Kingdom, When We Become Strangers and Discussion about Fatigue, have been published by Shanghai People's Publishing House.


Olga Tokarczuk is even less popular than Handek. There are only a few papers and interviews on major web portals before she won the Prize, and even her douban group was not established.

However, the copyright of two of her masterpieces Pokot and Collection of Grotesque Stories was transferred to Zhejiang Literature and Art Publishing House several months ago. The film of the same name of her full-length novel Pokot won the Golden Bear Prize at the 2017 Berlin Film Festival. Collection of Grotesque Stories is the author's latest work. The translator is currently working all night.
