Chinese Navy attends international fleet review in Japan

Taiyuan Warship of a destroyer division from the navy of Eastern Theater Command set sail in a military harbor in Zhoushan to go to Japan to participate the international fleet review on Monday morning. On the morning of October 10th, Taiyuan Warship of the Chinese navy arrived in Yokosuka, Japan. More than 300 people, including representatives of the Chinese embassy and consulates in Japan, overseas Chinese and officers and soldiers of the Japanese maritime self-defense force welcomed them at the dock and held a grand welcoming ceremony.


This was the second visit by a Chinese naval vessel to Japan after 10 years and the first participation in the international fleet review in Japan.

The international fleet review is sponsored by the Japanese maritime self-defense force, and scheduled to be held in Sagami Bay of Tokyo in mid-October. More than 10 vessels from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, India, Canada, Singapore and other countries, and multiple types of ships and aircrafts of the Japanese maritime self-defense force will participate in the fleet review.


Gong Yuanxin, Vice Head of a destroyer division from the navy of Eastern Theater Command, said: "In April this year, destroyer Liangyue of the Japanese maritime self-defense force was invited to Qingdao to participate in the multinational naval activity for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Navy and jointly received the maritime review with Taiyuan Warship. This time, all the officers and soldiers of Taiyuan Warship will fully show the new style of the People's Navy in the new era with excellent accomplishment and good style."


After the welcoming ceremony, Taiyuan Warship was open to the public, and the Chinese and overseas Chinese boarded Taiyuan Warship for a visit. "We are very proud to see such an advanced warship of our motherland. I got up at 4 am this morning and got to the dock early."

Song Yifan, an overseas student from Taiyuan, Shanxi, said, "Warship is flowing land. Boarding Taiyuan Warship is going back home." He said that some overseas students came from more than 500 kilometers away to express their missing and love for their motherland.
