The months-long unrest in Hong Kong is worrying many families, especially those with children. Zhang Na has a family of four. Zhang and her husband Li Min were born in the Chinese mainland and moved to Hong Kong about a decade ago. Their daughters, however, were born in Hong Kong. "No matter how long I've been here, Hong Kong is not my hometown. It could be my second hometown at most. But for my daughters, this is home," said Zhang.

But the long-lasting unrest in Hong Kong has affected the family. Zhang said she was speechless and could not explain the violence, when her daughter saw reports about the protests on TV and asked about them. "No matter what I say, the children have been exposed to the violence. I really don't know how much they've been affected psychologically," Zhang explained. The couple decided to settle in Hong Kong, due to its advanced medical care and education. Zhang said, as parents, they could guide their daughters to shape their social values. But the external environment makes it a challenge.

The couple who work in finance and business industries are considered elites in Hong Kong. But they still worry a little about their future. "The hard part is there is not a clear solution to resolve the issues. We don't know how long it will last. People are afraid of the unknown. You don't know where it will take you, so it is hard to make plans," said Li Min.
