Foreign funding and foreign orientation are likely behind the violent protests that have sabotaged Hong Kong for months, said a former member of British Parliament.

George Galloway, also a news anchor and host for commentary programs in several TV stations, said during an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) that although western media have distorted facts about the Hong Kong riots with edited video segments, the Hong Kong police force has showed a high level of professionalism and tolerance in the events."If they [the riots] were to happen in Britain, I can assure you they'll be met with much more violence from the police and security forces than the Hong Kong police and security forces. To take one example, it is illegal in Britain to come to a demonstration with a face mask. You will be arrested for it. It's illegal to take a picture or film of the police operating in a conflict, in a demonstration. So in any other country in the world, protesters like the Hong Kong protesters would have been summarily deal with long before now," said Galloway.

Analyzing the riots took place over the past months, Galloway said he believes foreign organizations have used the young people in Hong Kong to try to distract China from its progress.   "Such young people are of course uniquely vulnerable because of a lack of historical memory to being I suppose subverted by the foreign funding and foreign orientation of these kind of groups. They know that it cannot as it were detach Hong Kong from China. But merely wishes to weaken China, to distract China from its ongoing progress, distract it to a diversion. That's what the Hong Kong issue is," said Galloway.
