Around 5,000 people from across the globe attended the fourth Belt and Road Summit that opened in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Wednesday to explore new opportunities from the Belt and Road Initiative. Co-organized by the Hong Kong government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the two-day meeting attracted government officials and business leaders from China and other countries along the Belt and Road to share the latest developments related to the initiative.

Carrie Lam, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, delivered a speech at the summit, saying the Belt and Road was designed to be an open, inclusive and all-embracing global initiative, which extends beyond geographical and cultural borders and boundaries, and Hong Kong is perfectly positioned to serve as the gateway to the Belt and Road. She is confident that under the "one country, two systems" principle, Hong Kong can play a strategic role in connecting China with the countries along the Belt and Road and help construct more sustainable Belt and Road projects.
