“I like singing, dancing, hip-hop, and basketball,” Cai Xukun introduced himself in a promotion video for the Idol Producer 2018. The young Chinese pop star, also one of the most controversial ones at the moment, made his way to the stardom via last year’s phenomenal trainee reality show Idol Producer.

In the video, he played basketball for a while against the BGM “Cuz You Are Too Beautiful” by SWIN. And “cuz you are too beautiful” is one of the Chinese lyrics in the song. The words were sung too rapidly and produced a homophonic effect, which made it sound like “chick, you are too beautiful”.

Cai’s basketball skills were seriously doubted by Chinese netizens after he was named as the brand ambassador of the NBA League in China. Video clips mocking Cai's basketball skills were posted and went viral on Bilibili, a Chinese video platform, leading many online users to taunt Cai with the lyrics “Chick, you are too beautiful”. On April 12, Cai sued Bilibili for the violation of his personal rights.

According to the official introduction, the game is a duel of a group of chickens. Players can have fun with chickens in different styles and shriekings; scenes can be destroyed; characters can perform superphysical actions. You will be the brightest chicken on the street if you win…

The visual design of the characters, inspired by Cai Xukun, is intended to entertain the public. A group of fighting chickens mock the movements of Cai such as singing, dancing, and dribbling.

By sliding a finger to control a role in the form of a “chicken”, you can fight with other players. Once you release your finger, the role will throw out a “bomb” in the form of an egg to attack other players. Those players that are hit will be kicked out from the game.

Users can choose different skins for characters and bombs. There are skins of character and bomb designed based on the image of Kun, which cannot be selected until a certain amount of advertisement is watched.

In the comment area of the game, a netizen wrote: “Isn’t the game designer afraid of being warned by Cai's lawyer?”

According to the Tencent Technology report, the game gains its popularity because it is designed based on a controversial figure and has a public entertaining function. For some younger generations, “making fun of Cai Xukun” has gradually evolved into a “label” of their individuality. Owing to this label, the game closely related with Cai became in vogue.

Spoof doesn't mean humiliation; adaption doesn’t mean it can be recklessness. Game designs should also be subject to the laws. Has the game gone too far? It depends on whether Cai Xukun and IKUN (fans of Cai Xukun) can accept it or not.
