Recently, a video of an ancient Chinese folklore has gone viral on YouTube.

It is Legend of Lady White Snake, a short animation produced by the Education Channel of TED (Technology, Entertainment & Design).

The four-minute animation blends traditional Chinese culture of shadow puppetry and paper-cutting art, telling the love story of Xu Xian and his wife Lady White Snake.

In less than a week after the video was posted, it had been watched for over a million times and received over 40,000 likes.

The foreign internet users were enchanted by both the love story of a mortal man and a white snake, which was changed into a beautiful lady, and the distinct traditional Chinese painting style.

Some admitted that they were envious of Xu Xian a lot, “Is there anything cooler than owning a snake spirit wife who is smart, beautiful and can exercise magic arts?”

The love beyond the mortal world was supported by a lot of foreign internet users.

After watching the animation, foreign internet users were longing for more.
